The Via Regia Process
The following is a brief overview of how Via Regia works on projects. For specific project details, click on the links to the left.

Free Initial Consultation and Estimate
The process begins when you fill out our Contact Form, giving us a brief overview of your project. Feel free to ask us any questions you have about how we work.

We then schedule a free, confidential consultation, either by phone or in person, during which we learn as much as possible about your project, both from a creative and a logistical standpoint. Questions we ask include: What is the scope of the writing project? Is there a specific style you are aiming for? How much of the writing is already complete? What are your goals for the project?

The information we've gathered allows us to tell approximately how long it will take to complete the assignment.

Low Project Start Rates
Our standard rate is $36 USD per hour for all projects. For larger assignments, those taking several weeks to complete, we offer a lower rate of $20 per hour for our first 8 hours. We do this so that our clients, new and returning, can see for themselves what we are bringing to their project, and feel comfortable with us moving forward to the larger scope of work. This 8-hour period essentially serves as a "getting-to-know-you" phase, and we feel it gives our clients a greater sense of trust and assurance.

Work Flow
Keep in mind that we stay in contact with you as much as you’d like throughout the writing process. We work on shareable Google Documents, which allow our clients to see our progress in real time and give feedback as needed. Some clients enjoy staying in constant contact, with regular consultations throughout the project. Some clients simply cut us loose, and we don’t hear from them again until we’ve completed their project. It is up to you how much you want to stay involved, and how much feedback you want to give.

Confidentiality
For projects of a confidential nature, especially books and screenplay material, we have a standard confidentiality agreement that states that neither Via Regia nor any of its writers will use or share your original ideas or writing.

Payment Structure
We ask for payments incrementally throughout the project, to ensure trust and peace of mind on both sides. We ask for payment for every 40 hours spent on a project.

For your peace of mind, we give you the ability to walk away at any time, for any reason, paying only for the time Via Regia has spent on the project, and keeping for yourself any work we have done for you.
